Man charged in killing of ex-girlfriend in Va. while she on 911 call

A 30-year-old man was charged with second-degree murder in the Friday killing of a woman who had a protective order against him and was on a call with 911 seeking help in the Annandale area when she was fatally shot, according to Fairfax County police.
Authorities said they arrested Tylen Jennings, of Maryland, on Friday night, hours after Anesha Isaacs was fatally shot outside her workplace in the 3200 block of Woodburn Road. Isaacs, 30, had called 911 to report that her ex-boyfriend was preventing her from leaving the parking lot, police said Saturday in a news release.
The victim’s older brother, Raymond Isaacs, said his sister had known Jennings for about a year and a half and had a protective order against him for a substantial amount of that time.
“Anesha was a beautiful person,” Raymond Isaacs said. “I know that could be said for a lot of people, but it’s true. That was my sister.”

He said a few months ago, his sister moved out of her Maryland apartment and in with family because she became increasingly uncomfortable with Jennings. Her brother said she made sure her protective orders covered D.C., Maryland and Virginia, though he recalled other instances in which Jennings did not respect those guidelines.
“He had no respect for those protective orders,” Raymond Isaacs said, later adding, “She did everything she was supposed to do. Unfortunately, she was not protected, and she should have been.”
Police said Isaacs had called emergency dispatchers at about 4:45 p.m. on Friday, saying her ex-boyfriend, Jennings, was blocking her car with his vehicle. She told 911 that “the man was wanted, and she had an active protective order against him,” police said.
Officers arriving at the scene found Isaacs with multiple gunshot wounds and took her to a hospital across the street, where she died, police said.

Jennings had fled the scene before police arrived, officials said. Prince George’s police arrested him Friday evening after a license plate reader indicated he would be driving toward Maryland, according to the Fairfax County police. Officials said they found a firearm inside his vehicle.
Fairfax County police also charged Jennings with felony firearm use, abduction and violating a protective order. Police said he was jailed in Maryland, awaiting extradition to Virginia. Attorney information for Jennings was not immediately available in court records.
Meanwhile, her family is grieving, said Raymond Isaacs, who described his sister as loving and openhearted.
“It has had a great impact on our family, my mother, father, brother, sisters,” he said. “We no longer have the opportunity to have a sister and a daughter — and that is a lot to deal with.”
